Over the past year and a half, IMI has started construction on this landmark project in rural Punjab. Construction has already begun, and tele-medicine services are available for the underserved populations of Chakwal. Earlier this year, these services were unveiled and inaugurated in a special hybrid event. The project will include a mid-sized hospital with an Ophthalmology Center, dedicated to Mr. Zamir Kazmi, and an Urgent Care Center named “Barkat Urgent Care” in honor of past IMI Global President, late Dr. Barkat Jaffrey, surgery center, dental, laboratory and radiology services as well as a pharmacy.
On the tails of IMI’s Silver Jubilee Conference in Pakistan, on December 30, 2019, the inaugural unveiling of the Al Zahra Medical Complex by IMI and Aziz Imdad Memorial Trust took place in Syed Kasran, just outside Chakwal, Punjab.
At the inauguration, the Hon. Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Health Minister of Punjab, spoke eloquently about the health needs of the community and offered her office’s support for this much needed project. As a show of their commitment to service and this project, IMI delegates also held a free health camp on site that very afternoon. The foreign delegation that had traveled to Pakistan for the conference, was directly able to impact those most vulnerable through this health camp. They had the opportunity to treat and see patients in this remote village.
Both an international and Pakistan faculty have been established, and plans are underway for the IMI Women’s Wing to lead a vocational center for the women and youth of the area.
Your help is needed to develop the complex further.
Plans include development of a Maternal and Childcare Center, Endocrinology Center, Diagnostic Center, Urgent Care Center amongst many other projects.
